Welcome to OT Unfiltered! We are so happy that you are joining us (and reading this post). If you haven't seen yet, we are four OTR/L's that developed this brand in order to help other OT's thrive and those that are considering becoming OT's learn what the hype is all about.
What is OT you may be wondering? If you are new to the term at least... OT or 'occupational therapy' is a career within the health field that was established in 1917. It has changed plenty since then, but we won't get into that right now. OT encompasses a very broad range of populations and settings with a primary purpose of bringing more meaning into life by providing rehabilitation with an emphasis on "occupations." NOT jobs. In this field, occupations are considered to be the day to day activities you do most and enjoy.
Diving a little deeper, we are experts at analyzing someone's ability to perform his or her activities of daily living and determine how we can provide optimal support through rehabilitation. Do you like working with children? Great, there is a job for you. Do you enjoy working with adults? Excellent, there is a job for you. Do you want to work with grandmas and grandpas? Good news, there is also a job for you.
Occupational therapy is such a unique career and the opportunities are (almost) endless. Throughout our blog posts, we are going to cover an array of topics and try to keep it as interesting, fun, and educational as possible. So sit back and enjoy the ride.
